If you build it, they will come.  Ah, the famous line from the movie Field of Dreams.  I’m not a fan of Kevin Costner but I did like the movie.   Anyway, I feel the same way about my adopted city flower pots.  As you know, I’ve got 2 of them.  It seems one pot has been adopted by the local business near to it.

It is very close to the entrance of a pizza place and it seems the owner planted a bunch of items in the pot, including gorgeous morning glories.  She prunes and waters it, too.  My other pot has been a challenge.  I planted zebra sea grass, daisies and geraniums.  What didn’t die got stolen – all except the grass.  I’m happy about that because the sea grass is a perennial and was the most expensive item I bought.

This year’s goal was to plant the “anchor” perennials so they had time to establish themselves.  The rest was just fill in to make it look decent.  I am happy that all the perennials are doing well, though.

Oh well, one gets poached, the other gets adopted.  Not a bad scenario.  Gardening is like a daily prayer in patience and hope.  You give it a little bit of yourself every day with hopes it will someday grow into something beautiful – kinda like parenting, I guess.

My oldest sister is having her birthday today.  Talk about a morning glory – my sister Lynne is spectacular.  She’s the tall one standing next to my Mom.

She’s still the tall one…

Happy Birthday, Beautiful!
